Milanoristorazione S.p.A. is the company that since 1 January 2001 has managed school meals in the Milan City area. Milano Ristorazione is owned entirely by Milan City Council, and its purpose is to supply a School Meals Service for primary and secondary schools and nursery schools in Milan and to prepare meals for old people’s homes, immigrant reception centres and state subsidised private schools. About 75,000 meals are produced every day in our 36 centres, with a total of 850 employees, spread over the Milan territory. The Milano Ristorazione Project was created with the aim of offering Milan school children a “good, healthy, educational meal at a fair price", giving attention first of all to the hygienic, health and nutritional quality, but also to sensorial and cultural quality, to stimulate the young users’ interest in the experience of taste. The school refectory thus become a “children’s restaurant” that valorises foods and promotes correct eating habits, in a pleasant and educational way.
